These guys have a soft spot for the prestigious Pepperdine University on the Malibu coast. The campus chapel is incredible and only allows alumni to get married there. It was a rare opportunity and we were thrilled to have to opportunity. Just a few miles down the beach the party continued at Dukes where we found ourselves on a private slice of beach that seemed to have been carved out for the occasion. We love traveling for weddings, but we sure aren’t moving out of state any time soon! Here are a few to whet your appetite…

Stephanie & Kevin | Cape May, NJ

Stephanie and Kevin’s wedding took us to the incredibly cute town of Cape May, New Jersey where Stephanie spent her life vacationing with her family. The Hotel Alcott, the old theater, the beach, and the local arcade housed many of her most cherished childhood adventures, so it seemed fitting that it would be the place she and Kevin promised to begin their greatest adventure of all together. We love photographing destination weddings all over the world and are always inspired by the kinds of stories that surface when a couple’s closest friends and family gather together in the name of love. There is such a sense of family here, the kind of feeling that makes you want to sit on a porch and tell stories, or sing songs, or snuggle up with your kids and try with all of your might to bottle up the feeling that a place like this brings, the way it slows down time and reminds you of what is important. We are honored to get to share with you a few of the images from Stephanie and Kevin’s first day as a family.

We love taking a documentary approach to our family sessions and love it when we are invited into a family’s home where the kids are comfortable, the smell of morning coffee mingles with Saturday morning cartoons and that favorite spot on the couch or stairwell or kitchen table draws everyone together. The surroundings speak of who the family is and in exploring the familiar we get to create images that speak to who you are in this chapter of your lives. Every family has a story. The Curriers are such an incredible and warm family and it was a joy to join them for the first couple of hours of their day to document a slice of their lives. They are about to make a big cross country move and it is our hope that through these images they will be able to relive this chapter in their story, big wheels, toy cars, crawling babies, rocket ship PJs and all. This is just a small sampling of all that took place on this “quiet morning” like any other at the Currier house.
