Ferrin and Joel’s spring wedding at the incredible Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, California was a celebration to remember. The ranch is not only a winery, but also home to exotic animals, from zebras to an adorable giraffe named Stanley. If ever there was a real live Neverland, this was it. Wine barrels and rustic touches were balanced by tuxedos and evening gowns.

Moments after our arrival we felt at home which is always lovely, but most of all allowed us to dig in and be candid storytellers. These two were perfectly at home with one another – a recipe for meaningful moments and an epic portrait session.

The couple exchanged letters before an intimate first look filled with laughter and tears. All the while, Ferrin’s wonderfully unruly veil made a first impression of its own, dancing as if on cue. After years of drought it was incredible to shoot a true Southern California wedding again. Cool breezes, warm sun, and the rolling hills of this rustic Malibu venue were a perfect wedding backdrop, and the newly green grass was the perfect canvas for an outdoor winery wedding.

We love great wedding speeches and Ferrin’s dad didn’t disappoint. The couple and their fathers are all doctors. So it came as no surprise when the speech took a hilariously clinical twist. Much like their patients, the audience was in stitches. The evening ended with an all out dance party under the twinkle light draped trees.

Thank you Joel, Ferrin and your wonderful family. We are thrilled for you and can’t wait to hear about your adventures. Most of all, thank you for putting your trust in us.

Rather than one wedding day, Alicia and Tommy had an incredible two-part wedding that kicked off at Saint Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica and ended in an all out second ceremony and reception at the Bel Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades. This beach wedding venue is one of our favorites. A towering Spanish style building overlooks a grassy lawn with incredible views of the Pacific ocean. It is the perfect spot for couples who want a beach wedding without getting sandy.

After Catholic Church wedding in Santa Monica we met an intimate collection of friends and family for a small reception at the beach. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Pacific Coast Highway sat a tiny private beach club. We were smitten with Alicia and Tommy after their deeply meaningful ceremony. It came as no surprise that we fell in love with this little venue too. The club is owned by 40 long-time members who rotate using the small guest house, deck and fire pit.

The second wedding was filled with emotion so we couldn’t help but keep shooting. Alicia’s tearful first look with her dad set the tone. The excitement in the air was palpable and a collection of witty and heart warming speeches rounded out the evening.

Alicia and Tommy are utterly sweet and thanked us throughout the weekend. We have photographed some incredible couples this year, and we can’t wait to share more. Here are just a few of our favorites.

The chance meeting with a friend on your stroll down to the lake. Shooting stars at night. Hearty breakfasts every morning. Kayak rides with ducks in tow. Books on the dock. Walks through the woods. The laughter of cocktail hour echoing out over the first tee. Maybe you jump into an afternoon tennis match. Or post-dinner shuffleboard game. Or bocce. Or frisbee. Or soccer. Or just end up sitting in the gazebo with a glass of wine and smiling at sunset. Every day is your day here, so enjoy it.

Because the more you love TLV, the more it loves you back. And those fortunate enough to experience its warmth quickly become family. Its the love and comfort that keeps our families coming back year after year. And who knows? Maybe we’ll make a convert out of you.”

Tamara and Kevin, may you always have time to sit and rock together. May the laughter of cocktail hour only be overshadowed by the laugher in your home. May you be continually shaped by one another. And may every day of your marriage be your day.
